A new bushfire burning at Paynes Crossing today - see below

Image

Information on fire activity in the Wollombi Road/Paynes Crossing area
Issued at 10am Sunday 21 October 2012

Situation
A bushfire is burning in the Wollombi Road area near Paynes Crossing, 11km south of Broke. It is burning on the eastern side of Wollombi Road uphill within the Pokolbin state forest.. Weather conditions today are expected to see the fire progress further up the hill. Fire agency crews are working to establish containment lines around the fire. This will involve using existing property access tracks to the north and south of the fire and the Coolawine fire trial which runs along the top of the escarpment to the east. Wollombi Road will be used to contain the fire to the west.
Residents will see increased movement of fire fighting vehicles and helicopters during the next 48 hours
