Here is a link to the full coverage of this NSW pre-election rally Can't eat coal, can't drink gas from LOCK-THE-GATE that took place in Sydney Martin Place on Sunday March 20,2011.

The rally, organised jointly by NSW Nature Conservation Council and by the Lock The Gate Alliance, was a great success despite the rain and wind - really awful. More then one thousand of delegates from all over NSW and Queensland attended. If we consider that each group could afford to send only a handful of delegates, the rally represented in reality thousands and thousands of activists in the field. They were all united in opposition to uncontrolled coal and gas mining in NSW.

The rally was addressed by speakers from the organiser groups, regional organisations as well as by representatives from Greens and Rob Oakeshott and Tim Duddy as Independents. Update on the Tara blockade in Queensland was presented by the Frackman. Representatives from the major NSW political parties were significantly missing. The Labour Government and the Liberal/National Opposition obviously felt that they had been already sufficiently briefed by the lobbyists from the mining companies. We should remember that when going to the elections next Saturday.

Now some more photographs to get the feeling of the whole proceedings:
