* PROTEST RALLY *

The NSW Mineral Exploration & Investment Conference will be held at the Sofitel Sydney Wentworth on 18-19 August 2011. It is sponsored and organized by NSW Department of Resources & Energy

Our own Mike Moraza from AGL will be speaking on Thursday afternoon about what they are planning to do to our Hunter and Gloucester valleys.

2:20 Coal Seam Gas Exploration Developments within the Hunter and Gloucester Regions
Mr Mike Moraza, Group General Manager Upstream Gas, AGL Energy Ltd 2:45

It is likely that he is going say what a marvelous thing is to have COAL SEAM METHANE GAS, how lucky we are, how well the industry is regulated, how compatible it is with agriculture, with wine growing, with horse breeding and with our life in our towns and villages (see e.g. "Not in the business of eco-destruction" http://bit.ly/qlFcmA and contrast with "AGL 'not interested' in protecting our valley" http://bit.ly/nA8MMr).

Obviously, AGL feels that there is nothing to stop them going ahead with their gas project. However, we beg to differ. We do not want CSG anywhere close to where we live! We have plenty of evidence that the AGL's self-regulated CSG Hunter Project has a huge long-term potential to destroy our land, our water, our air, our health and the value of our homes. AGL does not have the social license to destroy our valley!

WE FEEL THAT MIKE MAROZA WOULD LIKE TO SEE US AT THE PROTEST RALLY, ORGANIZED BY THE LOCK THE GATE ALLIANCE AND OTHER GROUPS, IN FRONT OF THEIR CONFERENCE SITE.

WE ARE ORGANIZING BUSES TO BRING MEMBERS AND SUPPORTERS OF THE HUNTER VALLY PROTECTION ALLIANCE TO THE RALLY IN SYDNEY AND BACK.

What: Rally at the NSW Mineral Exploration and Investment Conference 2011
Where: Sofitel Sydney Wentworth, Phillip St Sydney
When: 12noon, Thursday 18 August
The cost will be about $25 a head with likely pickup points at Bulga, Broke, Pokolbin and Wollombi. However, we need to know how many people will be able to join this important protest action.

Please let us know if you plan to join the rally using this special email address:

rally18th@huntervalleyprotectionalliance.com.

See further details in the message attached.
