THE GREEN GAUGE- Coal seam gas mining threatens the sustainability of the Hunter Valley wine region.

Australian winemakers are usually a fairly placid, conservative lot. Things have to get pretty serious for them to leave their vines and their vats and march to state parliament in angry protest. So the fact that busloads of Hunter Valley winemakers and grape growers descended on Macquarie Street last month along with thousands of other furious protestors is a clear indication of just how strongly they feel about the threat of coal seam gas mining to their beloved region.
