NSW Farmers stiffen opposition to coal seam gas

The New South Wales Farmers' Association is calling for rural communities to have a direct say in whether coal seam gas projects proceed.

The lobby group has adopted a policy which requires the State Government to revoke a CSG licence if there's overwhelming community opposition.

The government will be asked to rescind licences if 85 per cent of people are against exploration and production in their district.

Beef and grain farmer, Alistair Donaldson, from north-west New South Wales, says a number of surveys have already been carried out.

"The results have been quite definitive at this stage, 96 per cent.
